Vogue 9069 | Lined Coat
The overall look of this lined wool-blend coat screams cozy blanket! I found this sewing project to be very easy. Keep reading to find out why I say this about the Vogue 9069 coat pattern.
Every seamstress needs to have at least one good “me-made” coat in their closet! Prior to this coat I had one tweed peacoat and a shorter cropped wool coat.
I have had this pattern in my pattern stash for years and haven’t taken the time to make it. I said, “this season was the time to get it done!” I wanted something easy and simple to make and figured this Vogue pattern 9069 was a good option considering it was their Very Easy Vogue line.

Behind the Seams, What Really Happened
This coat was super easy to make, however it took way longer than expected. It makes sense though because it is oversized, and long, and has a hood, so the stitching seemed like it was never ending! However, it was definitely worth it.
The only alterations to the pattern that I wish I would have done is elongate the tie. While preparing the pieces, I did measure it and said that the length should be good enough. But clearly I was distracted while measuring because the ties were shorter than I ultimately would like. I prefer my ties to have a somewhat decent length remaining after tied, and the suggested length with the pattern tie didn’t allow enough length for my preference.
The fabrics I chose worked well together and feels like I’m wearing a giant blanket! The lining I chose I already had in my stash, it’s like a polyester plush knit fabric which is a beautiful contrast to the wool I used.
Overall, this pattern is a great starter pattern if you have never made a coat, although not a quick process, and it turns out great!
Honestly, I don’t see myself making another one of these coats because I like to have a variety of items in my wardrobe, but I definitely recommend this pattern! If anything, one day I may do one version without a lining as a lighter fall option, that’s shorter.
