Sew Valuable Resources:
Unique Fabric Stores & Indie Pattern Companies
Finding unique fabrics with just the right print or the perfect pattern to make your one-of-a-kind look pop can be so challenging and frustrating to find! Goggle just doesn’t help in this area! I used to attend yearly sewing expos just to be able to find unique fabrics I couldn’t get my hands on regularly around where I live and also to be introduced to smaller pattern companies that make different looks from the “standard”.
I don’t want you to spend hours like I have researching for that modern winter kids coat, for example!
Here you’ll find a variety of online fabric stores and pattern companies that you will wish you heard of yesterday!
Hope you enjoy!

ONLINE FABRIC SHOPPING TIP: If you are exploring into new fabrics that you have never worked with, order a fabric sample first to save you any headache after purchasing several yards and find you can’t work with that fabric. - OR - Go to a local fabric store and touch and stretch the fabric you are looking to work with. Once you know you like it, go online and buy the exact color, etc., you are looking for.

PATTERN SELECTION TIP: Most companies feature a few free patterns. Take advantage of this! Getting a free pattern, whether you plan on sewing it or not, gives you an opportunity to see if you like the look of their printed patterns and if you are happy with their pattern instructions and pictures. Believe me…no two companies are the same!
Children & Family Patterns
The majority of the companies below have patterns for children only but a handful offer women and/or family patterns as well.
Ottobre Design: Magazine subscription that includes patterns. Individual patterns available by request.
Lowland Kids: Absolutely the cutest modern patterns for kids…and dolls!
Brindille & Twig: Great selection of staples for children starting from New Born!
PATTERN SELECTION TIP: When sewing for children on a PDF pattern, print all the sizes together if you regularly sew for your growing baby. This has many benefits, not only do you save paper from potentially printing again when they need a bigger size, but you can blend sizes easier and have it ready to go a few months later.
