Behind the Seams, What Really Happened

This pattern is a “quick” make. It is very straight forward and to the point and very user-friendly for beginners. I have made this pattern three or four times and each time is a beautiful result. The view that I make time and again from this pattern is view C.

View C and D may look the same but the difference is the vent on the back, which is needed for the length that I make my skirts. Vents are designed to make it more comfortable for you to walk without catching your skirt each time.

I like the simplicity, no pun intended, of this skirt because it allows me to use bold fabrics that balance nicely with the basic fit of this pattern. I chose to lengthen my skirt so that it would be midi-length, hitting mid-calf. This was easy to do as the pattern piece is marked clearly as to the point of where you separate that pattern piece to extend it to your desired length.

I personally prefer the quickness of installing invisible zippers with skirts generally, this skirt had a zipper that would be hidden with a small flap of the fabric. The instructions given to complete this zipper installation is clear and helpful. I would just recommend that you truly listen to the directions when it says to BASTE the zipper first. this will save you a lot of time. Don't be stubborn like me and feel like you don't need the baste and then extend the length of your project unnecessarily, lol!

I completed this skirt in about 5 hours breaking it up over three or four days. If you have time to complete it in one whole day it can definitely be done in an afternoon.

This skirt can easily be altered to fit the way you want which is why I love this as a base skirt pattern. For example, I lengthened my pockets because they're a little short and can't my phone. This would also be a really easy skirt to create a lining with.

Overall I really enjoy making this skirt, it's something that I will come to time and time again as my custom wardrobe collection expands. I definitely recommend this pattern!
